I have planted garlic next to my tomatoes, I heard they work well together so I was giving it a try. But my mother is worried that now the tomatoes will taste like garlic having them so close to each other. Will having garlic next to the tomatoes affect the taste?
A lot of literature says that garlic improves tomatoes' flavor, but it never goes into detail about what that flavor is! From personal experience, I've grown garlic right next to tomatoes and have never noticed a garlicky taste. Your tomatoes should be fine, and they really will benefit from the garlic's pest deterrent abilities.

My garlic plants have stalks like leeks. Is this normal and if so what type is it? Planted them in the fall. The garlic bulbs had purple strips when planted. Thanks.
This can be normal in many varieties, although pinpointing the exact cultivar will be very difficult. It does seem to be a hardneck variety, though. This can develop that hard stalk.
over 10 years ago, we planted a few bulbs in one setting. The purpose was to enjoy the vertical purple flower and green growth it produces. As time went on, the horizontal growth of this plant has expanded to over 3 ft. Today it is quite a large dense growth with green branches that have grown out and just lie down sideways and have no flowers. The center of this mass has many bulbs tightly showing with some older dead woven straw intertwined. Question: After removing the dead straw, what will it take to get it back to normal with vertical flowers and vertical green growth, 1) does it need more water? 2)does it need more fertilizer? 3) Should some of the bulbs in the center be reduced to allow others to grow?
These bulbs need to be divided. A donut-like growth habit (dead in the center but growth around that) is always a sign that plants need to be divided. Ten years is also a long time to go without dividing bulbs. Bulbs are usually divided every 3-5 years. This article may help, though it's about dividing tulips, the method is the same.

Before I plant them should I step off the foliage leaving three or 4 inches so the roots will spread? Thank you for your help.
They do multiply, but it is very slow. It may take a several years before they fill in the area that they are planted.

Planted 3 of these in late April (low desert of Arizona) & they looked great for a while, but now closet to death. It's hot here...118 yesterday. Are they needing more or less water? Do they need to be fertilized? Hoping to save them!!! Thank you.
What is under those rocks? Are they planted in quality soil, or just topsoil? Those rocks may be causing it to get too hot around the base of the plants.
Generally, you will want to feel down into the soil about 2 inches. If it is dry passed this point, then it is time to water. If it is still moist at all, then you will want to hold. off. This could be a bit difficult with the rocks on top, but it will still be your best indication of when to water.

Yes, if you plant a single garlic bulb in the ground, it will grow into a whole new head of garlic. This article should tell you everything you need to know:

I found a patch of wild garlic that has been untouched for several years. Today, I decided to dig them up. I have read that you should stop watering them about 3 weeks before harvest. We have been in a drought for almost a month. The stems were completely brown, there were almost no leaves and the cloves were separated. All signs that I am late. But I have questions. Do I have to leave the stems on while drying? How long should I dry them? I have also read that they will not store for long, but do you have an idea for how long? Or did I waste my time? Please send my an answer as soon as possible so I know what to do. Thank you
