This was sold to us as a Freesia by Sainsbury’s. What is it?
That is a tomato.

Preventing this may require sinking some stakes nearby (but not close enough to harm the tubers) and using a strip of soft fabric to tie them up, or just building some kind of protection around them. Perhaps this article will help:

Much of the literature says in zones 9 and above, please freesia bulbs in late Oct or Early Nov. But since freesia bloom 10-12 weeks after planting the bulbs, doesnt that mean they will bloom in Feb or early March? If I want them to bloom in April, should I plant in January if I am in zone 10a?
I think that you've got the idea! Since they bloom, reliably, on a time schedule you can plant them according to when you want them to bloom.
Usually, zones 9 and up are grouped together, unless the plant is purely tropical.

I got a potted freezia in the spring, it flowered, then whithered, and I thought it was dead. I never had time to plant it in the ground, then it was about to frost, so I went about bringing in some of my plants and found that the freezia was growing and now is full green shoots of leaves. I have it in a north window. Should I still try to plant it outside, or do you think it will winter over in the house?
Yes, you can grow freesia indoors. This article has a section that explains how to do it:

I had a bumper crop of freesias. This week I pulled them out of the pots, but I'm unsure how best to hold them over prior to replanting for the next season. Please advise.

Bought 3 freesia plants around 3 years ago. Planted them in a 12”, deepish pot & they flowered, rather unsuccessfully, the same year. Nothing happened then for the next 2/3 years so this week I decided to see what was happening. Found literally at least 100 healthy-looking bulbs & offsets in the pot, with no signs of sprouting. Have planted 20 or so in a couple of troughs (22 June 2021) but what do I do with the rest?
You can try giving them away, or selling them. If you can't do that, then you can grind them up and add them to a compost bin.
Took corms out two years ago planted this year many flowers on them but all yellow the odd white ones all grown n large pots
It is very possible that the originals have died, leaving behind seeds. It could be that yellow is the dominant trait, here, leaving you with only yellows.
