What do the bulbs look like? I planted a 150 Confetti flower garden. If I have to remove the Freesias, I need to know what they look like in order to know which bulbs to remove at the end of summer. Thanks. Glenda
If the bulbs have been planted they may be darker in appearance.
Most Freesia bulbs are 1 to 21/2 inches tall.

After the flowers died/dried off, I am left with green, bumpy "seeds" on the stems. What are these? Are these the "corms"? Are these SEEDS? Can i plant them as if they were seeds?
Yes, freesias can set seeds. However, doing so takes up a lot energy from the plant and the colors of the new freesia that you grow from seed are usually not identical to those of the original plant.

How do I identify when freesia seed pods are ripe and ready to plant?
After pollination in the period mid March-Mid April the seeds are ripened on the plant until the end of June. By then, the seed pods were ready for harvesting and after two weeks the seeds were peeled from the seed pods. After three weeks of additional drying, the seeds are ready to be sown in the soil. Germination takes about three to four weeks.
I live in Michigan, zone 5 and have some freesia and ranunculus bulbs to plant. Do I need to start them inside in spring or will they bloom this summer if I plant them outdoors after the risk of frost has past (usually late May)?

I lifted some freesia bulbs last autumn and stored them in a paper bag indoors. I planted them in pots mid March and they are reproducing but not shooting. So I’ve bought some more, and they’re doing nothing either. They are all in a conservatory or outside on warm days.
Sometimes a bulb won't bloom again; for reasons unknown.

We have a holiday house in southeast France in foothills of Pyrenees. we found a freesia growing and wonder where we can buy more freesia bulbs which are not hybrids -i.e which will naturalise.
We don't sell or recommend retailers, but suggest you look for reputable catalog nurseries online if your local nursery does not carry them. Here's an article you may enjoy:
