Hi, I have a Chicago Fig tree in my yard and now that the figs started to ripen, I have lots of small ants feasting on the figs. How can I get rid of these ants ? The ants are very small, black color and very similar to house ants.
I recommend spraying neem oil, with a few drops of rosemary oil in it. This is a very effective pesticide, as is garlic. Here is a link for more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/figs/keep-ants-off-fig-trees.htm
This year it has no figs in summer but now in Oct. good crop. last year the figs did not ripen in the winter. how can i get my fig tree to get the seasons turned around? how do I get figs in the right season?
Unfortunately, unless they are in container, there is not much you can do. The tree is going to produce when it is ready to do so. Here is an article that will give you more information on proper care of figs: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/figs/how-to-grow-figs.htm
I have read rooting fig cuttings should be done with rooting powder or hormone. Bought some and it says not to use the stuff on any plant to used as food or feed. There is a phone number on the container. So, I called and was told that rooting powder or hormone can be toxic.
This is true. But usually it is out of the soil by harvest time. There are other ways to make your own natural rooting hormone. I like to crush an aspirin tab and mix it with a little honey and just a few drops of really hot water to melt everything together. It should be a syrup-like paste at this point. You can apply to the cut stem like you would the powder.
Hi How do you remedy rust spots on fig tree leaves?
I would apply dolomitic lime along with wettable sulfur powder. This will keep the pH balanced while the sulphur destroys what it can of the infection. Here is an article that has more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/figs/figs-disease-rust.htm
My fig tree has small green fruit which from experience will not now ripen. Should I remove them are just let them rot on the tree
If you know they won't ripen, there's no reason not to remove them now, and it could make the cleanup a lot easier. Your figs most likely do not ripen because they need warmer temperatures, but also see these articles:

Usually don't wrap tree before leaves fall off, but this year there are still green leafs on the tree. I'm leaving for several months and can't leave it unprotected for winter. What do you recommend? Remove them or wrap with them on. Not sure.
Generally, you will cut them back and wrap them in burlap with several layers. Mulch the root area as well.

When and how do you prune a fig tree?
The best time to prune these is in winter, when they are dormant. There is a certain method of pruning so that you keep the proper amount of fruiting wood. This information can be found in this article: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/figs/pruning-fig-trees.htm
