LondonQ.Is My Eucalyptus Tree Dying?
Hi, My eucalyptus tree has a hole in its trunk and the wood inside it is dead. I am worried it is dying. The trunk has gone very weird and brown. It has also shed all of its bark. Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do to help it? Thank you so much for any help you can give. Kind regards, Will

Certified ExpertA.It doesn't look like it to me! The wood inside all trees is "dead" in a sense, so it isn't really a worry unless the wood inside is infected. It looks clean to me.
In my opinion- This tree suffered some serious injuries earlier on in its life. It looks to have recovered.
If you start to notice further decay, then you can look for fungal culprits, but this looks like a healthy specimen, to me.

Certified ExpertA.We don't have any arborists but if you are referring to the heavy litter they drop, this article mentions it. They drop bark sheddings, leaves, as well as branches. So it should be where there is a lot of clearance. They also are a fire and wind hazard.

Certified ExpertA.You can cut it back to 15 cm. (6 inches) from the ground. When it sprouts, groom the best-looking stem for the trunk, and cut away all others. Here is more:

October 16, 2022Q.What Type Of Disease Does This Eucalyptus Tree Have?
Old eucalyptus tree has a hole and had these beautiful mushrooms growing. Do you know what it is and do you think this could be saved (even though I took it down because it was in a high fire zone) what disease could it be and is this a tree disease or dirt disease? Can I plant any tree in its place? Thank you Photos: Mushrooms My whole arm going into the bottom of trunk Crack in trunk filed with white substance (dry and hard)

Certified ExpertA.Unfortunately, your photos did not come through. I am unable to see the mushroom in question. Some tree-borne mushrooms are pathogenic, while others are benign. Without know which, I can't say for certain whether it is a threat to your tree, or others planted in its place.
Generally, if the mushroom is a tree pathogen that is making the tree sick or has killed it, then it will be unwise to plant something in its place, unless you know the mushroom species and what tree species it infects.

29710Q.Eucalyptus Tree Issue
Just moved to a home and I have what I believe is a eucalyptus cinerea tree that was about 30 feet tall. Within 3 months (Jan-Apr) it looked like it was dead as there was no longer any growth. Was told by 2 landscapers that it was dead. I was going to cut it down but then saw a small amount of growth from the trunk. After it was apparent that the tree was not dead, once there was a lot of growth, I ended up cutting the top 20 feet off of the trunk. Now I have a huge amount of growth from the ground up. There is no growth from the top third of the trunk. I have one shoot that even extends beyond the top of the trunk! There is especially 1 shoot going straight up that is about 6 feet tall and am afraid that the next big wind will break it. Is there anything I should do to make sure this tree keeps growing and is healthy?

Certified ExpertA.Rainbow eucalyptus need a full sun, moist environment with lots of room to grow. Typically a residential yard is not ideal.
Dropping leaves means the tree is stressed. Is it getting enough water? If rainfall isn't sufficient, it needs supplemental watering. Here is more:
