My shrub gets sun in the morning about 1 hour and sun n the late afternoon about 2 hours. planted in the North West corner of my yard. Mostly shaded through out the day. This is the second year for the shrug, Growing great just not the nice dark color nor has it any flowers
It sounds like they are lacking in sunlight! These need full sun, or partial shade at most.
The shrub may need to be relocated, or some of the shade removed for it to flower correctly.

Has red berries
It appears to be a Sambucus racemosa or Red Elderberry. It is hard to say, for certain, without a closeup, as well. It does appear to be Elderberry, though.

Is Black Elderberry the only variety good against colds and flu? Or all varieties good and black elderberry is best?
This article only references elderberry and not a specific variety. Be sure to consult a physician before ingesting any plant for medicinal purposes.

I picked a bunch of red elderberry flowers and the next day processed them and dried them above my wood stove but they turned brown.ive heard if there brown there no good to use:(is this true?!also how do I properly dry them?was the wood stove too hot of heat maybe?I live off grid with no electricity.maybe if I hang them in my house away from wood stove that would dry them to a light brown/cream/yellow color instead?help please,I don't want to mess this up again and be disrespectful to momma elder!here are before and after drying photos.
I looked at several images of dried elderflowers on the internet and they do, indeed, look somewhat brown. With most herbs, the best way to dry them is with air circulation, not heat. As to their potency after drying them over your woodstove, I would not know. I think your best bet is a dry, warm spot that isn't hot. If they air dry without heat, the natural oils may stay more intact. Here's an article that should help:

ope in our village. Any suggestions?e Want something like an acer for its striking colours. Like the idea of slow growing but mustn't have roots that penetrate to disturb our newly laid block paving drive. It would be on a slight raised slope about 5-6 ft. away from the drive .
The elderberry cultivars resemble a Japanese maple, particularly Black Lace and Lemony Lace. Japanese maples don't like hot weather but you can ask at the nursery for one that does well in full sun.

I’ve been told that this is an Acer tree could you confirm or what it is and what its proper name is Many thanks.
It looks like a 'Black Lace' elderberry shrub, not an Acer. They do look similar though.

I bought 2 different elderberry bushes this year and planted with black kow manure compost. That is what the co-op said to do. I have a trickle water irrigation to them. I water 20 min a day. One plant had flowers and the second plant never got flowers. I went away for a visit 3 days. When I came back, all white flowers gone and the stems of the flowers were brown. I am new to growing these. Help please.
