how deep/how much of the bulb do you cover when planting in a pot indoors?
Leave the top of the root ball and 1 to 2 inches of the roots exposed above the soil in the pot.
You can also repot covering the roots but plant at the same depth the root ball was previously.

Hi, Would you please tell me what the whitish sticky stuff on my desert rose? How can I get rid of it? Please advise. Thanks Lespoir
It looks like an infestation of Scale or Mealy Bug.
Neem Oil can be used to treat your plant.

I live in Florida and would like to know which blooming plants can survive the heat and full sun. I am a big fan of The Dessert Rose.
These articles will help you.

I gave my wife a desert rose about 4 years ago. It is still in the original pot, though it has certainly grown some. It seems to have more blooms each year and just recently started blooming this year. We live in SC so it comes inside for the winter, but my wife has never put it outside in full sun. It is on our screened back porch in the warm months. It is really doing great, so should she worry about moving it to a bigger pot anyway? Thanks
Desert Rose does well in slightly smaller pot, but eventually does outgrow it's container.
I would wait to move the plant into a pot 1/2 inch larger then the existing pot, when the plant is done blooming.
Use a soil that is used for cactus and succulents.
Keep the root ball at the same depth as it was in the previous pot, which should be about 1 to 2 inches of the root ball above the soil surface.
Good morning, my desert rose is putting out so many seed pods at the expense of leaves and flowers. Is it okay to cut off the seed pods (I don't wish to propagate the seeds)? Thanks, Doris Kelley
About four years ago I got a desert rose plant (all white multi-petal flowers) about a year ago a seed pod grew directly out of the trunk, it matured and fell off, since that time a new stem has grown from that spot, the new stem has different shaped leaves and is producing five petal pink flowers, don't have a clue why? Thanks, Pat
It sounds like your plant is producing a sport.
This is a genetic mutation.
You can prune away this stem or leave it!

One of my desert rose plants has several seed pods. How do I know when they are ready to plant and what do I do with them if I don't want to use them for replanting?
Once the pods have turned brown and dry completely, they can be harvested for growing more plants or simply remove and toss out if you choose not to use the seeds.
Here is information on growing these plants from seed if you choose to do so: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/desert-rose/desert-rose-propagation.htm
