When I plant desert rose seeds in small seed growing plastic containers, how much to water it - daily basis or not? Can I keep in direct sunlight?
You want the soils a bit moist but not real wet for germination. If you do put them in direct sunlight, keep a close eye on the soils moisture as letting them dry out just once after germination can cause problems. I also recommend purchasing a soils moisture meter/tester as they are great for monitoring soils moisture in a the areas of the soils planted.
My desert rose has been exposed to the frost. Branches are going soft. I have had it for about 5 years. Repotted it about 18 mths ago. Should I cut the branches back?
Yes, you will want to cut back the dead plant material.
You will need to wait and see how the plant responds as damage can take days to appear.

This is my first attempt to grow desert roses from seed. I placed a container of cells and put in a good draining soil, listened added a seed and slightly covered the seed. I put water in a hopeless tray and placed the cell of seeds inside the tray and will water the top every 3 days as suggested until they germinate, My question is, should I have put some pebbles in the bottom prior to putting the planted cells on top? Or is it ok to sit the cells right into the partially filled base tray with water? I read that it would have been better to pre-soak the seeds first. Is this true or will they grow anyway? how much water should I keep in the planting tray below the cell of seeds? Thanks for any response.
Im a bit confused on how to water from below unless you put the cells in water, or r they trying to say to just sit thm in the watered tray for a minute, then remove it?
I would not recommend sitting the germination cells into a tray of water.
You can water them from below, then remove that water.

I have been growing desert rose from seed for some time with success. I have tried to find info on the procedure of transplanting the seedlings into pots. Do I water after the plant has been transplanted?
Each of the seedlings should have 6 true leaves before transplanting to new pots.
Desert Rose do better when they are more root bound so do not choose to large of a pot. A pot size that is 6 to 8" in diameter.
Choose an unglazed pottery or clay pot as this will help the soil dry out between waterings.
Fill the pot with a good quality potting mix--you can mix a potting soil with equal parts of cactus potting mix.
Gently remove the seedling and place the seedling into the new pot.
Firmly press the seedling into it's new soil mix.
Water lightly but make sure the soil is moist and not soggy. Root rot will take over quickly, so do not over water.
Keep the pots in a warm location- 75 to 80 degrees F, do not allow the plants to be exposed to temps below 40 degrees F.
Full sun location with at least 8 hours of sunlight.
After you began to see new growth you can a balanced fertilizer application ever couple of weeks until it flowers.

I bought a desert rose last summer - I repotted it like instructions told me to and have it inside in front of window with daylight in am and sun on it in the afternoon. It buds out but then the green turns brown. Help please. Thank you
Buds dying off could be due to watering issues, lack of sunlight or even disease or pests.
Check the soil to make sure it is not remaining to wet between waterings. Soil should be of a good draining mix of soil and sand.
Full sun location is needed to make this fussy tropical plant happy!

Check the branches. Do they snap or break off?
Scratch the bark. Live stems will show green.
Desert Rose are hardy in zones 10-11.
Are you growing in these warm zones? If you are in a colder region, this plant will not winter over outdoors.
