My sister gave me a desert rose she got from her mother in law in Florida, but the leaves all fell off. I treat it like a cactus;give it water when it needs it & it's sitting in front of the window. I live in Columbus Ohio; we have cold months and then raining months. I ordered another one which will arrive next Friday. I just need some idea how to keep it alive . TY .
There are a number of things that can go wrong with these. If you can include photos of the plant and area in which it sits, then maybe I can help you determine what happened. It is normal for it to, sometimes, lose leaves during the winter months, but they will normally recover. If you can provide some photos, I will be better able to help you determine what went wrong. I have some cuttings from a plant that rotted and they have been soaking in water and are nice and green.
I had a picture but it didn’t get included when the question posted?

Caudex is still healthy & firm. In this condition at least 4 months.
I have seen these recover from near death many more times than I can count. Giving them proper care will, likely, let it recover just fine.

The pod growth is long green pods. Can I plant seeds from them and when?
Yes you can plant the seeds obtained from the long, green pods. After doing research, I didn't see anything restricting when to start the seeds, except that the fresher the seeds, the better, germination wise. If you have access to a live plant, a cutting would reproduce the same traits; not necessarily so with the seeds.

Both of my Desert Roses are very big and are over 10 years old.
In order the reproduce, the absolute perfect environmental requirements must be met. If you are not able to change any of those factors, then it might not flower in its lifespan.
