The greens on my pigmy have missing areas, like possibly something is eating. The tree was planted about two weeks ago by landscaping company.
It looks like the tips are browning, which also could be the edges browning and falling off. As they are newly planted, the usual culprit for this is under watering.
I would recommend increasing water to the plants. This article will outline water needs for newly planted trees:

Can the pygmy date palm be grown as a houseplant?
Yes, pygmy date palms can definitely be grown as indoor plants. Bright indirect sunlight (preferably from an east facing window with morning sun) will help it thrive. Plant it in moist, fertile and well-draining soil. Be careful not to over-water.

I have been watering my pygmy date palm twice a week and it has been outside with moderate sun. The palms are droopy and turning brown. It this a sign of too much water or not enough or neither? Hate to see it suffering.
I am going to lean on the side of over-watering. Date palms rarely need to be watered and prefer dry soil - excess moisture can inhibit growth.

We came home to find our 12 foot tall date palm's top lying on the ground. It is over 30 years old and I hope it's not gone to palm tree heaven. Can we do anything to get it going again?
Without its crown, I am afraid your tree is in palm tree heaven. The crown will not grow back nor will the tree branch.
What kind of date palm is it - is it a canary island? is there any sign of rot on the inside of the trunk? Sudden crown drop on date palms can be due to a deadly disease that is fungal (Thielaviopsis paradoxa) in nature. I have read that drought stress can make palms more vulnerable to infection. For more information on this disease that eats away palms at their core, go here:

I live in Az and have a date palm that is 10 years old. The fronds have not been as green recently, probably the last 3 years. I know we have alkaline soil here. The palm is approximately 20ft high by 20 ft wide. Is there anything I can do to reduce the yellow fronds?
Your Date Palm can benefit from some good nutrient support.
Here is a link that can help you with that.

A friend of mine gave me some green balls that dropped from a date palm. Can I plant these to get palms? Or do I need to do something to them first?
I have not been able to find specifics on growing a Date Palm seed.
Here are a couple of articles that have more information.

I live in Hawaii and would like to try growing date palm trees. However, I live close to the ocean on the windward side of the island, so there is a lot of salt wind. Will a date palm be able to withstand this? The soil is sandy and well drained and there's ample sun. I've had good luck with coconut palms in this environment despite the salt and wind.
Though your zone and growing conditions meet many of the needs of a Date Palm, the rainy seasons would likely be to much for the Palm.
Here is a link with great information. You can access your location and weather conditions.
