We are sorry you have had an issue with printing an article.
On the right side at the end of each article there is a 'print this' tab in green.
Click on the 'print this' tab and a new window will open with a printable version of the article.

5 to 6 months is quite a long time. Can you give the plant to someone to care for in your absence?

If you cannot have someone care for the plant, remove the corm after dormancy and store in a paper bag in a cool (50 degree F) dark, and dry location.

You can dead head the spent flowers by removing them with a small scissors or snips. Cut them down as low as you can in the plant crown.

Yes, this plan should work fine. Cyclamens tend not to compete well with aggressive plants, so just avoid planting anything that is an aggressive spreader nearby.

If you have not fertilized the plant, it my be time to do so. It sounds like it needs some phosphorus and potassium to start flowering again, properly. It wouldn't hurt to put in some dolomitic lime, as well. This will help keep the pH in order, as this can often be the cause.

Here is an article for more information on the care of the plant: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/cyclamen/cyclamen-care.htm

The more dome-looking side goes down. If there are points, then these are actually shoots, not roots. Those should face up.
