Monteagle TNQ.Black Dragon Cryptomeria
The late sudden hard freeze we had in my area really hit some of our landscape. I read that we should give plants plenty of time to try to recover. We have two Black Dragon Cryptomerias that still look terrible. They were planted 4 years ago. There is some green at the base. We don’t know if we should trim or give up on them. Thanks for any advice.

Firstly, remove any damaged or dead branches by pruning them back to healthy tissue. This will promote new growth and prevent the spread of disease. Next, provide the plant with proper care and protection. Water the plant thoroughly, but avoid overwatering as it can lead to root rot. Apply a layer of mulch around the base of the plant to insulate the roots and retain moisture. Additionally, consider covering the plant with a frost cloth or burlap during cold nights to provide extra protection. Monitor the plant closely for signs of recovery and adjust care accordingly.
