I have learnt that some farmers yield 4tonns per acre. I planted soya and it had yellowish leaves and didn't yield well. I want to add 'CAN' to the soil before planting maize. Is that OK? And if so, how should I apply it? a 50kg bag should cover what area (or, about 10kg should cover what area)? When planting the maize I have a fertilizer [yaramila serial]. Do I apply both at once (or on the same season)?
We are more tailored to the backyard gardener. It sounds like you need agricultural information. Have you asked at the local stores where you buy your seed and fertilizer? There should be a network of farmers who help each other.
Here is what we have on corn/maize:
I would like to plant sweet corn and beans together, using the corn stalk for the beans, as I've read about, but I just don't know how that would work? Can you help?
This article refers to the beans fixing nitrogen in the soil for successive crops, and the beans can ramble up the corn stalks:

Greetings, I had to leave after planting my corn. On return the silk was yellow and I was waiting until it turned choc brown but something ate all the silks off last night. How else can I tell when to pick it. Thank you, Tom
Generally, this is about 20 days after you see silks appear! You can puncture a kernel or two and check to see if it has entered the "milk phase", as well.

We have had forest fires and extreme heat for two weeks (not usual in this area of British Columbia) My corn has appeared to mature in the last 10 days. The cobs are still small although the silk has gone brown in the last 10 days. Should I harvest now ?
This is going to be a difficult task, but knowing when it is ripe can be done. This article will help you to do so:

No corn just stalks
There are several reason why this could occur, but they all lead to one thing: Poor pollination. There are a couple of things to know to get a harvest, at all! This article will help:

Corn was an earlysweet variety. About 3/4 of the planting has come up as normal cornstalks but the rest look like the attached pictures. Although the plants were close together, they got plenty of water and the weather was hot but not unusually so. We have grown corn for many years and this was something we haven't seen before. Is it possible that we got some sorghum seed mixed in with the corn seed?
That would be Millet! This is unfortunate, but you could harvest this crop, as well. These collections of articles will help:
