Hi there, I have the below plant in a pot sharing with a clematis. I don't have a clue what it is. Please advise?
It is a brassica family plant, possibly wild mustard. It is not something you want growing with your clematis and it will self-sow all over. I suggest you cut it at soil level and not pull it out. Pulling will disturb the clematis roots.
the clematis is scrambling up an old shed which is to be demolished and replaced with a larger one, hence the move. Our soil is alight sandy one and any pointers when and how, with any precautions necessary would be much appreciated.

I have an arbor with climatis that I planted in July, so not too tall yet. They have a few blooms. I want to ensure they are ready for next spring. Idaho winters are cold!

What do very thin branches mean are they weak plants ?
Most of the time, with clematis, the flowering stems and leaf stems will be very thin and spindly. This is the nature of the plant. They will need to be trellised, or led to climb on something in order to hold itself up.
I do not feel that there is anything wrong with the plant, but if you would like to send photos, then it can help me to see exactly what is going on.

I have an Autumn Clematis that grows on an arbor. It blooms beautifully in late summer. Do I cut it back after blooming this Fall? Will cutting it back impact on the fullness for next year? How far back should I prune? Thank you.
You should remove dead blossoms as they lose their appearance. It is up to you whether you cut them back or not. If you decide to do so, you should leave a few feet of vine, so that it will remain well established. We moved into a new home with potted clematis They are climbers, they latch on to everything. They are beautiful. I have no idea how to care for them in the winter or prune them. Some plants have big red flowers 5 petals and others at pink.they have large shiny leaves Would appreciate your help kim
You will want to remove any dead flowers when they are done, and it isn't a bad idea to prune them often. Here is a link that will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/vines/clematis/growing-clematis.htm
I have a Clematis fuji musume, which I have had for 2 years. It grows no more than 2 feet and has a couple of nice blue flowers. I train it again a wall using a trellis. How can I get it to grow tall? Thanks
There are several factors that will be at play here. The first is the variety.
This is known for being a more compact growing clematis. In fact, this is the focal selling point for this cultivar! Now, over time, and with maturity, they will reach a height of about 8 feet tall if they are trellised properly. Depending on how cold it gets in your area, this can have something to do with it as well.
There are a few things that all clematis need to be healthy, and they will have different pruning requirements as well.
