It is a brassica family plant, possibly wild mustard. It is not something you want growing with your clematis and it will self-sow all over. I suggest you cut it at soil level and not pull it out. Pulling will disturb the clematis roots.

Most of the time, with clematis, the flowering stems and leaf stems will be very thin and spindly. This is the nature of the plant. They will need to be trellised, or led to climb on something in order to hold itself up.

I do not feel that there is anything wrong with the plant, but if you would like to send photos, then it can help me to see exactly what is going on.

You should remove dead blossoms as they lose their appearance. It is up to you whether you cut them back or not. If you decide to do so, you should leave a few feet of vine, so that it will remain well established. There are several factors that will be at play here. The first is the variety.

This is known for being a more compact growing clematis. In fact, this is the focal selling point for this cultivar! Now, over time, and with maturity, they will reach a height of about 8 feet tall if they are trellised properly. Depending on how cold it gets in your area, this can have something to do with it as well.

There are a few things that all clematis need to be healthy, and they will have different pruning requirements as well.
