I ourchased a very healthy looking plant from a reputable siyrse, but after six weeks it appears to be dying. It has been watered well, is placed in a sunny but sheltered position but obviously doesn't like something about its environment. I planted it in a hole which had been well prepared with a mixture of potting compost, John nines and a little bagged farm yard manure, as my soil is extremely sandy. What dud I do wrong?
Well draining soil is important. Make sure the soil is moist but not soggy.

I have 2 clematis vines growing in pots. Question #1. Can I bring them inside for the winter?, or question #2, can I leave them outside in the pots? The area I want to plant them will be having work done and I don't think I will be able to plant before winter. Also that area faces east. I have a climbing rose, is it a good idea to combine them together? Will one choke the other out?
I would not plant a Clematis with a Rose, the vines can kill the Rose.
Winter over your pot in a garage or shed.

I got a clematis as a gift but don't know how hardy it is. Will it survive an Illinois winter? Should I cut my clematis off at the ground after a hard frost -- should I mound dirt over it?
There are a few things to do to care for your clematis in your area. Also it is helpful to know what cultivar you have, as some do better in your area than others. Here is a link that will help: http://web.extension.illinois.edu/cfiv/homeowners/051020.html
Hello. Refer to photo on left. The branch is dying...What causing it? I got 2 branch on summer that died like this ..Is there anything I can do ?Please help.
It appears to be root damage. It is possible that there are moles nearby. If there are no signs then of pests, then it sould be a fungal issue, but usually that affects the whole plant.

I just read about a non-climbing clematis "davidii", but can't find it anywhere. Where can I get more info, and can I grow it in Sacramento, CA?
Are you looking for Clematis heracleifolia var. davidiana? There are also Clematis "durandii" and "Danielle". There are Ca nurseries which carry these. I could not find "Davidii".
I know that my type of clematis is supposed to be cut back in early spring, but I won't be able to get to our summer home until June next year. Can I cut it back late this fall? Zone 4
It is best to wait until they go dormant, if you live in an area that gets some chilly weather. If not, then wait until the flowers bloom and drop to prune them.

I love the clematis I have at my current home but I'm moving and would like to divide it from the root. Could you help me with this? I dug it out but the roots are too intertwined.
Dividing is not how clematis are propagated. It is usually done by stem cuttings or layering. This is not a favorable time of year to use those techniques. Have you considered cutting down the plant and potting it up to move to your new location? Here is a step by step guide to division. http://homeguides.sfgate.com/separate-clematis-30039.html
