Can you break a limb off citronella and root in water?
Yes, you can root in water but I recommend taking cuttings and rooting in a medium such as perlite.
Here are some links to help you.

I need to start citronella from cuttings from mature plants. How do we start a new plant?
The citronella geranium can be propagated from cuttings made from the stems. Use a sharp, clean tool to cut a 4 to 6 inch length from the middle section of a stem, making sure the cutting contains at least two leaf nodes. Remove the bottom leaves but keep the top two leaves on the cutting. See these articles for how to root the cuttings:

Rooting hormone can be used, but is not required:

If you have a large clump of the plant, you can also propagate it by division:

I live in zone 8b,Ga. My question is can cintronella plants tolerate full direct sun. I know they require at least 6hrs of sun. Would that be direct sun or partial or filtered indirect sun? I greatly appreciate all the information you can provide.
In a warm zone like yours, I would suggest morning sun and afternoon shade or a part sun location.
crushing the leaves,do you crush them on the plant and leave them....ie:they turn brown ?! or do you take them off and crush them?!
It is recommend you crush the leaves and rub on as a mosquito repellent.
can you root them from cut stems and how
Yes, they are easily propagated.

When can i sew this seed please.
Needs darkness to germinate, cover lightly with medium.
Germination: 10-14 days
Sow seeds 4 to 6 weeks before last frost date for your growing zone in the spring.
I have 3 Citronella plants, have had since last spring have done great until now. They now have tiny white bugs that are eating them to death. I have sprayed them, douced them 3 times and a couple of days later they are back eating them. the bugs are only there in evening and night. I am loosing them and don't know what to do to stop them. Never got bugs before.
Try Neem Oil as a treatment for the pests.
