Why can't I keep cilantro alive? I bought a growing light since there isn't any direct light in the south facing window. I have been leaving the light on it for about 4 hours at a time 1-2 times/day. The leaves keep turning yellow. I haven't been able to keep one alive for more than about 4-5 weeks so far. :/
Your on the right track, but you will need to increase the light a bit more.
Also you will need to provide some extra nutrition for this fast growing herb.

I want fresh cilantro when the tomatoes come in for salsa. How can I grow cilantro when it is hot?
You are not alone in this frustration of Cilantro bolting and difficulty to grow in warmer temperatures.
Look for varieties that are slow-bolting.

Hello, I am planning to start growing herbs indoor in a dollar tree glass container. So my concern is should the container have a drain? Do i have to use grow lights everyday for the plan (24x7). I am from Columbus Ohio and i stay in an apartment where i do not have more sunlight into it and i get sunlight only 2 hours in the morning and an hour in the evening. Kindly help me learn how to grown them indoor as i love gardening. Thank you, Kallu
I would urge you to reconsider the growing container for your Cilantro Herb plant.
A pot with a drainage hole is a better choice and you will then be rewarded with a healthier plant.

So, my mother had a rectangular vegetable planter filled with soil that was sitting in the garage of the previous home I was leasing. After I moved into my current home back in late Feb of this year, that same planter, I set it outside the front door and used it as an ashtray, tossing cigarette butts into it. The soil was still in it as I had not tossed it out. A few weeks later last month in Mar, I noticed plants sprouting from the planter. Lo and behold, what started to grow was cilantro that my mother had planted over a year ago. So I removed and disposed of all the cigarette butts and have been watering the cilantro. And they've been growing nicely these past several weeks. My question is: Are the cilantro safe to eat? I'm concerned that with my using the planter as an ashtray prior to realizing that there were dormant plants in there, that the toxins from the cigarette butts have leached into the soil and then into the cilantro.
You are correct in your concerns.

hi,I tried to regrow cilantro from kitchen scrap. I planted it directly in pot soil as roots are already there n the bunch we purchase but it has never regrown from the scrap. We need this herb frequently. Can you please advice what I need to do.
You can easily grow cilantro from seeds. The seeds are easily available from any asian shop as it is used as a spice. Spread the seeds over the compost in the container and lightly cover it with compost. Water. Keep the compost moist. Dont over water it. The seeds will germinate in around 8-14 days.
What kind of plant food & nutrient can feed it
