The cooler air of fall and shorter day length prompts blooming. For the 12 hours of darkness, leave the plant in a room that you don't use in the evening (no lights on). It should get bright light during the day. Here is more:
My Christmas cactus bloomed at Christmas and is blooming again in April. Is it ok to start feeding it now while it’s blooming? Thank you!
Wait till it has finished blooming to feed it. You are lucky to get more than one bloom cycle!
Just found this on a young plant
Unfortunately, your photos did not come through. I am unable to see the growth in question.
In the meantime, this collection of articles will offer more information on the plant:

Found on a young plant
WOW That is cool!!! If another cactus was nearby, then this is likely the case: The other cactus has grafted itself to your plant!
Usually, this is done, by hand, and purposely. I don't think that this is the case, here. You can remove it and grow it as its own cactus, or you can leave it as a strange novelty.
Quite interesting!

Both need reporting desperately. Their owner passed away and I\'d like information to keep them alive and repot. Many Thanks,
Sure! We have just the article for you! First, be sure to soak the rootball in water if it is too compact to shake free the dirt.
Please refrain from including personal information in the future. These are public, and we wouldn't want your personal information to end up in the wrong hands.
I will remove it, this time.
I want to put two Christmas cacti, with different colored flowers into one larger pot... will the two share a pot?
As long as the container is twice the size of both plants together- It should be just fine!
Here are some articles that will help you to care for the plants:

Hello! So my Christmas Cactus, after propagating, has looked like this since February-no new growth at all! What am I doing wrong?
I would suggest feeding this little guy and seeing if that helps. Be conservative with the fertilizer. Here's an article that should help:
