Will the chickweed die back as the weather heats up? Or do I need to pull it out?
Chickweed is an annual that germinates in spring, flowers, releases seed and dies with frost in the fall.
hoping someone can advise on what type of flowering weed this one is. Is it super invasive? or can it serve as a nice ground cover?
It is chickweed. It is considered invasive, but doesn't usually cause too many issues. They are also considered edible! This article will offer more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/weeds/herbal-use-of-chickweed-plants.htm

Chickweed has been enjoyed for generations by many people. (Including myself and family) If you are sensitive to the saponins present or have an allergy to it, I would definitely not consume it. Normally, they are not in enough concentration to harm anyone. Many bean species contain the same saponin groups, as well.

Having just seeded a new lawn it has this weed rapidly taking over. The lawn is partially under large conifers and the infestation seems worse in that area. What can I safely use to kill off the weed without harming the new grass. Thank you in advance for your help and advice.

We recently reseeded sections of our lawn which suffered from the draught in our area. Now I'm seeing something growing which I cannot identify and it is taking over our lawn. You can see from photos that very little grass can be seen but quite a bit of this growth. Can you help?
It's either carpetweed or chickweed coming up. Either way you will want to get rid of it. Grass seed often has a percentage of weed seeds included. You can see the percentage of weeds on the container in the ingredient list. Since you are growing new grass, you need to wait before using an herbicide. Wait till you have mowed three or four times.
