I used a landscaper for two seasons and found that his equipment had dropped weed seeds onto my lawn. Most I have taken care of over the past 3 seasons, but this Chickweed keeps coming back. I have nearly 20, 000 sq. ft of lawn, so pulling them has been awful. I purchased Scotts Weed and Feed as well as spot treated with Weed-Be-Gone. Again, this year I see the little creeps popping up again. Less then previous years, but still here. I live in New York, on Long Island, and my lawn is a mix of Blues, fescues and rye. Normally, it looks very well, except the early spring when the chickweed is showing. When the weather gets warm, I find they die off, but by then they created open bare spots. How can I get rid of them forever? I now mow myself again, and wash the mower and edger after each use. I do not connect lawns with any neighbors, as there are wooded lots between us. The closest lawn is across the street, so I am not to concerned with contaminating my neighbors' yards, nor should I be picking up weeds from them. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The growing season is just starting, so again I want to do all I can to rid these pests.

What is the best thing to use to remove chickweed and other growth that has popped up in between the bricks of my sidewalk? It is horrible this year already. And out of control. There is no other growth that needs to be saved, so the most effective way to keep it gone would be appreciated.

I would like help in identifying a plant that has appeared in amongst the flowers and grasses in a patch of wildflowers. I am attaching a couple of photographs to see if you can help me, as I don't know how to deal with it! It has appeared - in profusion - and at the moment some of the plants are up to 10 ft tall. Most of them have small white flowers but one or two have yellow flowers. I am trying to dig them out but this is very difficult, as the ground is very stoney and they have fairly long taproots. I would love to know what it is and if I should be concerned about it and try to get rid of it or just let it go!
Looks like it might be a variety of carpet weed.

We have a large area of chickweed as a result of some bad topsoil that was purchased. At this late date in April, it is about too late to spray the area, then wait 3 to 4 weeks before we can reseed. I read that chickweed can only be killed by spraying during the growing season. Is this correct? I was hoping to spray the area in August and then reseed in early September. Thanks in advance for your response.
Fall and spring are the best times to control chickweed.

Pulling the Chickweed up by hand is the safe method of removal.
Though herbicides with Glyphosate will kill the Chickweed, it is not selective and will kill everything else it hits.
