Hi I have just bought a cherry tree a pear tree and grape vine when can I plant them on my allotment Regards Sam butler
I am not familiar with the temperature and weather patterns in your country. Can you give the high and low temperatures and rainfall patterns for your country?
Generally, I would recommend planting those in Spring, before any hot weather arrives. This will give them the best chance for survival, but Autumn can also work, as long as it doesn't get overly cold in your area.
the only access have is the store bought cherries so I'm trying these 1st. can they be placed and kept in a container? I have Italian fig "trees=yes they are to be a tree" in containers and its fin.
Many cherries from pit will yield a bitter cherry but that is not to say that they cannot be grown in container. This requires a little extra care to maintain in container, though. This article will get you started: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/cherry/growing-cherries-in-a-pot.htm
My tree doesn’t have any leaves or new shoots this year . Upon closer inspection there are small holes in tree . The base , trunk and big branches still look strong . Is the tree dying ? Very worried
It, definitely, doesn't sound good. Please include a photo and I will be more than glad to help you with your issue. In the meantime, this website will offer some help with the care of these trees: https://www.gardenia.net/plant/Prunus-serrula-Tibetan-Cherry
Thank you. I was told that by a local farmer lady but I didn't believe her. Too bad I leave the stalks grow high and only cut them down in the spring. If I knew they would get crappy so fast I wouldn't have bothered. My grandson just absolutely loves asparagus when he comes to eat AND the poodle goes to the garden and eats it raw! Oh well....I'll have to look for some new plants once the seasons change a bit. AND I took care when I planted what I had by following instructions in planting them. Down deep in a little gully with a little dirt over them until they sprout, then add a little more dirt, etc. until they reach the normal ground level. There is a lot of rig-a-ma-rol in planting them. That's for sure! How about answering my question on sweet oxhart cherries. Do I need 2 because mine never blossoms? t I have a sour cherry nearby which evidently doesn't do anything to help it along.
Most sweet cherry varieties are self-unfruitful (self-incompatible) and require cross pollination with another variety as the pollen source.
How to grow cherries from the seed
There are two ways to go about this. The first way is much safer, but will take months to see any results. This way is to put the seeds in the fridge for about a month, and then plant them as they are. This will take months to see a sprout, but once the hard stone shell dissolves it will germinate.
The second way can be quite dangerous, but you can see a sprout in as little as two months. You will need to wear gloves for this, since cherry pits contain prussic acid. This is converted to cyanide in the body, very rapidly.
After placing the seeds in the refrigerator for a month you will want to remove the outer shell. You must be very careful not to nick the almond like seed inside, and especially do not get it on your skin. Break the shell open with a hammer revealing the seed. Place this seed in moist soil, and under light. Wait for growth.

This tree is subject to constant mist/vapour spray 6 days a week 8.30 am to 5.30 pm from a power car wash operating less than 10 feet away from it. This car wash has been operating for last two years. The trunk and branches are split on the spray side, not on the house side. The leaves haven't fallen in last winter. Can't see any new buds. Leaves look as though they are dying. My question is who can I send samples of the tree to for analysis to see if the toxic contaminated dirty water from the vapour generated by the power sprayers is the cause of this tree's demise. This mist/vapour consists of Traffic Film Remover chemicals, the dirt and soil which collects on cars, unburnt fuels, soot and coke, vanadium, sulphur, iron, fuel additives, brake dust, tar, more oil, grease, bitumen and cement dust. Are you able to help? Kind regards Jill
This would be a tough environment for any tree.

What is a good fungicide for cherry trees with black root?
I think you are asking about black knot disease, a common problem especially in wild or untended areas. It is a fungus. One key to control is to prune out all affected branches to prevent further spread. The links below go to articles on black knot of cherry and other fruit trees. Make sure the fungicide explicitly states it treats black knot fungus.
