I've had him since last mother's day. What is the best way to take care of him? Thank you
I can say is in the family Cactaceae; Columnar type cacti, also known as “cereus type,” grow tall and skinny.
With thousands of Cactus, I can't id any further.
I know very little about cactus. I’m hoping I can root them, plant them? I've had them about 5 days. Can they be saved???
Yes. Let the cuttings callous over for a few days, then insert in a pot with cactus potting mix to root. Your picture looks like succulents, and they should be allowed to callous over, too, before potting. After a week, mist the soil. Then when it roots, continue usual watering.

Can you tell me what is growing on my cacti plant, someone mention to me it may be new growth don't worry. I see no signs of mealybugs. I fertilize once a month beings it's outside I water it well every other day. Thanks
That is a new baby cactus forming! This is nothing to worry about, and is a sign that it is healthy. If you are lucky, you may even see blooms from this cactus, eventually.
Is there any way to salvage either of these cactuses?
This is likely too large of a container for these small cactus.
They will be overwhelmed with water and easily die of root rot.
I would dig each up and place into smaller pots with cactus soil.

way? I have had my cactus since the summer of 2014, I do not remember what type exactly my cactus is. I recently discovered this big weird patch area and I’m worried that my cactus could be dying and or something is seriously wrong with it.
I believe your cactus plant is a species of Pachycereus.
There are several possibilities for the drying of the tissues, or "corking". It could be a bacterial or fungal infection, worst case is "bacterial necrosis" which is common in the big saguaros.
But it could also be due to sunburn or phyto-toxicity. Has it been sprayed with anything? Intentionally or accidentally?
Please help! I received this cactus for my birthday, and am still in the process of trying to identify the type of cactus it is? I just noticed today that one of the sections has gone very soft and has some sort of white dot trail on it but am unsure of what it is and how to treat it? I have a feeling it could be a fungal infection maybe but nothing like this has happened before. Does anyone know what I could do to save it before it could possibly spread. I've uploaded a picture of the cactus its self and the soft big as well.
Cacti are very hard to pin down into classification. Most have very similar care. It is certainly a fungal infection, though.
I would make sure to give this bright light. Also, make sure to only water when the soil is completely dry. Overwatering is the most common cause for this.
You will need a fungicide to treat the cactus with. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/info/using-fungicides-in-garden.htm
