My tree puts on figs in early spring that do not mature but fall off, then again in fall when there is not enough heat to mature. I guess I should check the phosphorus level?
This could be due to insufficient watering. This article should help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/figs/fig-drop.htm
The green fruit on our turkey fig tree has started turning white. Looks like it could be mildew. It is just on the fruit. We have had a good bit of rain. Should it be sprayed? We have had 1 batch already that did fine. This is the 2nd batch coming on from the tree.
Also, be sure that when watering avoid getting water on the plant and fruit.
Remove any infected fruit with rubber gloves on, being careful not to touch healthy plant foliage, stems and fruit. If the environment that caused the development of the mildew no longer exists, and the surrounding foliage and fruit is healthy then I would just observe at this point.
I've got a fig tree (Brown Turkey) in a container on my patio that I planted earlier this summer. Several of the older leaves are turning yellow/brown and going dry and crinkly in patches and these bits are shrivelling up. It looks like there is some white mould on some of the crinkly bits. New leaves look ok and the plant is producing fruit which is getting bigger. (See photos) The fig is in a south west-facing corner close to two walls in direct sunlight. It's planted in a terracotta pot in loam-based compost. No mulch. The weather has been quite wet over the last few weeks. Has anyone got any idea what's wrong?
This is a case of soil infection. This is caused by excessively wet weather. I have a personal mix that I have come up with for occasions like this. This is a broad range, effective, and safe method to control most fungus, bacteria, and insects.
The method is as follows: First, you will want to prime the ground with dolomitic lime, then spread wettable sulfur to Kill off any infection in the soil. I Also like to spray the plant itself. Mix a few drops of one or more of these ingredients into warm water with a spoonful of coconut oil: Rosemary oil, lavender oil, neem oil, garlic oil, cinnamon extract/oil and for really bad cases, also add clove oil.

Our fig tree is about a year old and is planted in the ground in Scottsdale, AZ. The first crop in the spring had about 10 figs that did not fully ripen. The second crop, in the fall, has more than 100 figs. I shaded the tree from the Arizona sun in the late summer and early fall. The tree is on an automatic drip watering system, and seems to get plenty of water. Mulching helps keep the roots cooler. The figs are dark purple and their stem is limp so the fruit hangs near the branch. The figs are plump and soft. But, the outer shell of the fig is very tough and not edible at all. My wife cooked them as she has prepared figs for years. The canned figs taste good, and the insides are moist and sweet even when raw. But, the shell remains real tough and not edible even when cooked. Do you have any hints or remedies to our situation?
Yes. Some figs just do this in response to a dry environment. If you can mist, or put it on a sprinkler system in the early morning, then this can help. You can also add a little more phosphorus to the soil. This should help this out a bit as well.

I have been trying to grow a Brown Turkey Fig Tree for about 6 months. It has several very small, very tight "buds" that don't open or grow. Leaves are rare and when they did bloom, they turned brown. It is planted in full sun; the soil is very sandy. PLEASE HELP! Thank you.
This could be watering issues, temperature fluctuations, disease and pollination issues.

How do I take care of my fig bush in the spring? The bush was covered in the fall and now I have uncovered it. The branches are sticking out but are dead (I believe). Do I cut them all the way down? I know the new shots come from the bottom of the bush. Last year I cut them all the way down and most of the figs were late and I lost a lot of the figs. Can you help me?
Test the branches, do they bend or snap off.
You can prune the dead branches from the Fig.
Figs will rebound pretty quickly.

I have a new fig tree (Brown Turkey). It grows lots of fruit but when they have grown large they change from green/yellow and go to brown/black. Before I can pick them they are eaten by what seems to be a disease. What can I do to prevent this? Thanks Eddie
There are a few things that can cause this. This article will help you to narrow down the possibilities: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/figs/fig-drop.htm
