Received bougainvillea bonsai as a gift about a month ago. It was covered with flowers but they have almost all fallen off. Plant is in a sunny window inside. I have watered it when top of soil is dry. There are only a few flowers left. What should I do? Trim it? Fertilize it? Water more or less? Leaves look healthy. Photo shows full bloom a couple weeks ago and now with fewer flowers.
They must recover between flowering. After the flowers drop completely, you can cut off the flowering stalk right below the lowest flower. Then you can focus on vegetative growth until the next flowering period. I live in south FL; they get full sun, I feed them every 2 weeks VPG 17-7-10. I prune them, so they are fully developed.
Unfortunately, these plants will need the exact opposite care!
They won't want to be fed very often, and when you do feed them you will need to stay away from high nitrogen foods.
They are a bit sensitive to water, also. You will want to hold off on watering, usually, unless they absolutely need it!
Pruning needs to be kept to a minimum, or not at all. This is another common reason for not flowering with this species.

Plant in soil doing well then this happened.
Yep! Those are "flowers", and you have a yellow form.
The flowers are actually modified leaf bracts, and some are yellow. I see reproductive organs, so I can safely say that those are flowers.

My (2) Bougainvillea in-ground plants (3-4' tall) appear to be very healthy, but they have never bloomed. I feed them Bougain every (4) weeks per the directions on the bag. I don't notice any disease. What do you think is the reason for not blooming? Thanks !
In researching an answer I learned that bougainvillea bloom best when slightly under-watered. Here are some other reasons for poor blooming: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/vines/bougainvillea/bougainvillea-not-blooming.htm

I just bought a beautiful Bougainvillea hanging basket, which is full of blooms. What is the normal care routine to keep it that way (Water, fertilizer, sun, pruning, etc.)? I've included a photo. Thanks !
Bougainvilleas are beautiful! Here are the artilces we have that answer your questions. I am also including the one on winterizing because in 9a, you are just on the edge of hardiness.

I live in South Florida. They get plenty of sun and water just from the rain mostly. They look hardy and have lots of leaves and branches.
Usually, when a plant has many healthy leaves, and are very dark green then this can indicate that there is too much nitrogen in the soil. This will prevent blooming. You will need to balance this out with fertilizers high in phosphorus and potassium, and little to no nitrogen.
