Albury 2641 NSWQ.BIRD OF PARADISE PLANT
The stems on my plant are bending and it does not look healthy It was removed from the ground and put into a plastic tub about 12 months ago. The stems are about 90-100 cm long. Any ideas?

May 25, 2018A.Bending leaves on a BofP are a generic symptom with a number of possible causes. It is likely reacting to its change in environment, everything from the roots being disturbed and damaged to a new location where the light has changed. The soil you used and your watering routine are also factors.
Can you post a photo that shows the entire plant, including its pot? Also information as to its new location and your watering routine.

I would like to know if I can plant a Bird of Paradise regenia plants near or adjacent to storm water pipe. It is a big garden bed with the storm water pipe running diagonally across, disecting the centre where the plant is to go. Will the plant's roots damage the storm water pipe?

June 19, 2018A.Bird of Paradise develop large roots that form a ball. They are not likely to harm pipes, though you may want to avoid planting directly over or near the drains.

June 20, 2018A.Are you possibly pruning off the flower buds at the top to achieve height reduction?
Or are you fertilizing with a high Nitrogen product that stimulates vegetative growth at the expense of flower development?

Titusville, Florida I believe zone 9 - 10Q.How to propagate a Bird of Paradise?
We have 2 very large white Bird of Paradise plants and they have lots of flowers. After they flower, is a large pod left. Is there a way to start new plants from these pods? Thanks! We are new to southern plants and not sure what to do with some of these.
