Okay --- In our Green area in zone 8b they plant Rye in the Fall (yeah) and Bermuda in the Spring. The 3/4 acre Green area needs and alternative to Bermuda, if we are going to use CMG. Any suggestions? Thanks, Sue
You might try the Zoysia grass. This is an alternative that more, and more people are turning to. Here is an article that will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/lawn-care/specific/zoysia/facts-about-zoysia-grass-zoysia-grass-problems.htm
I planted flowers in a location that was planted with bermuda grass. How can I kill it without killing my flowers?

we will be repairing our veg garden with side containment walls and the garden is covered with Bermuda grass. How do we kill the grass and still be able to plant in the next few weeks. We are in zone 7. I was thinking Roundup but looking forward to your opinion. Thanks
If you can wait at least a month to plant, you can solarize the soil, instructions below. If not, you can use a product containing glyphosate, but I am attaching a link to our article expressing some concerns on its use. If you use it, be sure to read and follow the directions, particularly wearing long pants and sleeves, gloves, and washing the clothes after spraying. It can be harmful if the product is allowed to absorb into the skin, so take the precautions seriously that are included on the label.

SHOULD YOU USE BERMUDA GRASS CLIPPPINGS WHEN BUILDING A NO TILL GARDEN?
Yes, as long as it's only cut grass and does not contain the roots. You wouldn't want to get grass growing in your new bed, especially not Bermudagrass. Grass clippings supply nitrogen and are considered "green" material for your layering. Here are articles that will give you ideas:

I have a question about the new Bermuda sod in my daughter's small yard. The sod was dormant when installed, and is still not established yet. Some kind of weeds are taking over. Do you know what this is, or what could be done? Not sure about weed killer since the grass is not established yet. Here are some pics.
It's a grassy weed, possibly a type of crabgrass. I don't think an herbicide would hurt as long as you get one for use on lawn.

Do I have a fungus in my Bermuda grass? If so, what do I do about it? Photo's are attached. Thanks !

lanted any vegetables in these yet. This is good rich soil I would really like to use. The bermuda grass roots/runners are relatively thick in the bottom of the containers. The containers are of very heavy plastic & measure 18" deep x 22" across. The photo is a small sample of how big the runners are.
You can dump out the soil and pull out all the berumdagrass. If you don't it will come up through your soil. Bermuda is very tenacious and will find its way up. Also, if you leave any pieces of it in the soil, it will regrow. Once you have it all cleaned out, you can replace the soil. If you see it starting to come up after your veggies are planted, pull it out immediately so it doesn't spread.
