I always planted a flowerbed with semperflorens begonias (with the little blossoms). This year I wanted to make a change and I planted the tuberous begonias, with the big beautiful blossoms. The flowerbed is in a sunny place. I think that's not so good? And is it true that tuberous begonias are more delicate and can get spoiled by rain and wind? Thank you.

Certified ExpertA.This, actually, looks more like a fungal issue, possibly shothole fungus.
The best way to deal with this is prevention, such as letting the soil dry out almost completely between waterings, and keeping the plant trimmed to allow for airflow between it.
For now, a mix of 1/4 peroxide to 3/4 water will help.

Am I able to store begonias over winter? I would like to cut the stems off and save the roots to replant next spring. Is that possible and how long can they be stored and what conditions should I store them in.

October 18, 2018A.There are 2 types of begonia, wax and tuberous. The more common one is tuberous begonia which can be lifted and grown as a houseplant over winter. Otherwise, it is prepared and stored by northern gardeners much like gladiolus and dahlia.
