Do I put the basil inside a bag with holes and tie together with stems and bag?
Yes, that is a great way to dry Basil.

Just a note, if your growing and drying lots of herbs investing in a dehydrator may be worth it. The herbs dry quickly and retain nice color. You can do large bunches quite quickly.
Leaves on my beautiful thriving basil plant suddenly-almost overnight-darkened and died. Even the plants from cuttings that I rooted in water and then planted were beautiful and then turned dark and shriveled. I've been growing basil for 60 years and have never seen this happen. Thank you in advance for hopefully providing an answer. Mickey Bezjak
This is most likely Bacterial Leaf Spot.
Damp growing conditions and lack of air circulation can be contributing factors. Keeping water from splashing unto the leaves can help.

How long will a store bought basil plant last in the house? Can you replant it for larger growth?

If a sweet basil plant has fusarium wilt, can the leaves be eaten or are they unsafe? Stems of good size on basil plant - which was grown probably in a greenhouse and which I purchased at supermarket have dark brown spots inside of stems and the plant is collapsing and green leaves just falling off stems.
I'm sorry your Basil plant isn't doing well!
You can still harvest and dry the leaves that don't have any spots on them, but unfortunately there's no remedy for fusarium wilt, so the plant will need to be destroyed, and if it's in the ground, you can't plant other Basil or mint plants in that area for 2-3 years.

I accidentally used the wrong spray on my Basil and coriander plants. I used Bayer Garden Fungus Fighter Disease control when I thought I was using their Organic Bug Fee to get rid of aphids. Just grabbed the bottle without looking! Will they be really unsafe to use in cooking now? Many thanks.
Wash the basil carefully and it should be just fine.

Something is nibbling the edges of leaves on basil plant. Not holes and not lacey.
It could be earwigs, since they will eat the edges of leaves. See this article:

Also keep checking the plants at different times of day in case you can catch them in the act.
My daughter brought home a beautiful sprig of basil from the farmers market and it has been in a glass of water to root. Roots are appearing and looks ready to plant; however, my counter top is covered with tiny black specks. I see no spots or damage to the leaves of the plant. I have googled and noted others ask about the black specs but only their other problems are addressed. Help! What are they? Thank you, Vicki I uploaded photos but am not seeing them. Not sure if they attached.
It is possible that what you are seeing is insect feces or even sooty mold due to honeydew (secretions from some insects, like aphids). Check the basil leaves and stem carefully for any signs of bugs.
