My autograph plant was subjected to a freeze. We had one night that we have a freeze temperature of 28 degrees. My autograph plants are now turning brown. Can I save them and how
The autograph plant, or pitch apple, is hardy to USDA zones 10b to 11. Palm Coast is in zone 9a and 9b. However, it's possible the roots survived and you will only lose the leaves. You can scratch off some of the stem to see if the stem or trunk survived. If it is green underneath, it is OK and should leaf out again. Wait till all threat of more freezes is gone before trimming off any dead material. If you haven't already, add several inches of mulch under the plant to protect it. Also, if more freezing weather is predicted, cover the plants. Hopefully, even though you are below its hardiness zone, the plants will pull through.
