I have an asparagus area. It gets thick with the fern so that I can't see where they come up. I know at some point at winter they should be cut. Can I cut some fern down so I can see where they are growing? I have missed so many of them because I can't see them when they come up.

How do I get rid of thousands of ants in an asparagus fern?
If you haven't read it, this article may help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/keeping-ants-of-flowering-vines-vegetables-and-flowers.htm
Also, you may want to check your other plants for pests, such as aphids. They can leave behind a sticky residue, called honeydew, which ants are attracted to. Taking care of the pests responsible will normally take care of the ants. Oftentimes, neem oil will help treat ant pest problems and is perfectly safe for use. Should I bring my asparagus fern indoors now that it's winter? I live in Tyler, Texas.
An Asparagus Fern can tolerate a light frost but temperatures below 24 degrees F will kill them.
To be on the safe side I would bring your plant indoors for the winter.
With a little extra care it will continue to grow and thrive indoors.

When can I pot indoors an asparagus fern?
Asparagus Fern can tolerate brief dips in temperatures. Temperatures below 25 degrees F can freeze the fern. It is best to keep it indoors until the temperatures stay above freezing.

I recently repotted my fern and now it is turning yellow. What am I doing wrong?
Asparagus Fern do prefer to be root bound, so repotting is done generally every few years.
Make sure you only went up 1 pot size. Too large of a pot could cause root rot.
Yellowing of leaves is most likely a watering issue, too much or too little.

Picture is housed at this link now: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bw-BAnS1jOOTT2IzcDJ5ZHZNWWM/view?usp=sharing I'd like to know what kind of plant the thin green things are (not the rubber tree), and how to encourage the bare-stemmed ones on the left to branch like the one on the right is doing. Thanks!
Thanks for the link; I am able to see the photo there! This looks to me like a species of ornamental Asparagus, known as asparagus ferns. These are relatives of edible asparagus that are grown for their beautiful folaige.
There are many related species of ornamental asparagus. I will try to find out which one this is. Meanwhile, here is some advice on growing them:

The asparagus fern I'm growing inside sends out long stems. Some as long as 20 ft.(yes, feet!). Only one stem has ever produced any leaves. Is this normal? The base of the plant doesn't seem to fill in. I only get these long shoots. It's in a bright spot, out of the sun and I keep the soil moist. What am I doing wrong?
I would trim the overly long stems to promote a more busy appearance.
