I don't have any additional details.
It is often birds. It also could be small rodents like moles or voles or even insects or invertebrates. Here is more:

I have a number of plants and a variety of problems with critters...rabbits eating off the hosta, squirrels digging up bulbs, but I can't figure out what nocturnal animal is destroying my potted plants by digging during the night, even when the pots are on tables several feet off the ground. Rabbit Scat powder hasn't worked. It's hard to put chicken wire up high enough to not damage the taller plants. What kind of critter could this be and what can I do to save my plants?
Without catching it in the act, it will be very hard to say. Unfortunately, some animals are very hard to control. In the meantime, these articles will offer many suggestions that you can try:

Last year I built a new raised bed. We had great success with the garden. This year I planted 4 tomato plants, beans, a few onion sets and 2 eggplants. I mixed marigold and basil in the garden. It's been a month of heat and drought so I have been watering well a couple times a week. The last few days one, and only one, of my tomato plants started to droop and curl on the new growth. It is quickly getting worse. I have never had this problem. My plan is to remove it to a separate pot and see what happens. Can you tell me what may be going on?
Either, moles or voles are present. These creatures will destroy a garden before your eyes.
Here are some articles that will help you to control them:

This year chipmunks are digging holes all over the ground next to the walkway from my driveway to front door. I have tried to discourage them with Repels-All and with a solution of cayenne pepper and water but they continue to dig. When I planted flowers they dug tunnels next to the flowers. This has never happened before. What to do?
