The spikes on my aloe plant have become long, dark green, curled (only the edges curl inward to the center of spike roll) and thin. Is this a growing phase or is there a problem to look for. The plant is 3 years old and in general good health. It has been in the same spot, in the windowsill, for this entire time and has been used and regrowth is good and strong.
Curling up leaves are an indication of not enough water.

Just got some from a friend. I am trying to decide where to plant it. I have a sprinkler system in my yard. Does it require a lot of water?
This is a very drought tolerant plant that is used to fertile but sandy soil. It is also not very tolerant of cool temperatures, so make sure that you are in an area that will support its growth. This article will give you more information on the care of these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/aloe-vera/aloe-vera-plant-care.htm
Hello. I am asking this question for my mother. She has a few Aloe plants that a are growing very well. and one which seems to be having some type of weird leaf growth (see picture ). She doesn't know what is going on...
This could be caused by pests. Inspect the plant for signs of insects or insect damage.

my aloe vera plants are like trailing and drying off between plants clusters. they also have come out of dirt and have no roots on the end. They look healthy but I'm sure they need a root base? Can I replant these pieces afraid my plant is going to die. do I put them in water to grow roots on end then plant like I would root other plants?
Don't put them in water to root them. Succulents actually need to dry out to root. I put mine in or on a tray of sand. This article may help

My aloe vera has been producing pups but I have been removing them once they get to about 3". But now it's been growing pups half way up the stem. Is this normal? Could I remove them too. I just want one aloe vera plant, not a bunch on one pot.
Yes, this will be normal. Most aloe will not grow as a single plant, and will crowd its self. They tend to grow better like this.
You can always remove the plantlets but they will always come back.h
I have inherited 2 very large aloes which are very much over growing their pots. How do I separate them? Do I separate them at all? Do I transplant them? Any help would be appreciated as I have no experience with succulents. Thanks!
