It's possible the top of the tree has died and that the root stock is still alive.
I do not know if you have grafted trees; you can usually see a graft joint at the base of the tree.
I would contact the seller, most reputable garden centers will guarantee their trees for 1 year.
There is no way to know what will grow from the root stock.

No, you would not notice anything until you planted those next generations seeds from that fruit. Then you could see traits of both parents. You will not likely be keeping your seeds, though.

Thank you for your gardening questions. The flowering and fruiting problems with your tree could involve pollination, pruning or a few other possibilities. Perhaps these two articles will help you sort it out:

Adequate water and fertilization is important to support foliage health, but the white fungus may very well be contributing to the premature leaf drop.

30 foot trees are too big for do it yourself spraying of a fungicide, so you may consider getting an assessment and quote from a tree service with "plant health care" specialist division, like Bartlett Tree Experts.

Keep up with the soil fertility, mulching and watering program. You may need to adopt a comprehensive pest management program that starts with sanitation (picking up and disposing of fallen nuts), dormant spray in winter to suppress overwintering eggs and larvae, spring and summer preventive spaying periodically according to product directions, with botanical pest repellent like 70% neem oil or Azadirachtin neem seed extract.

Normally, this kind of damage will recover. It will send out replacement branches, but it may take quite awhile before it flowers. Keep caring for it as usual.

You can attempt to reattach the main stem, as if you were grafting, but it is likely to fail. If this happens, the side shoots will take over for the lost top. Just make sure to keep any growth that comes from the base of the tree cut out.

Dear BushDoctor, thanks a lot for your prompt answer which is a great relief after grief. Please let me know whether to cut off the snapped overhanging tree top or leave it as such for the replacement branches to grow.
Thanks a lot for your help and support. With regards
