How to grow agapanthus in a pot
This can be done quite easily. This article will get you started: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/agapanthus/agapanthus-container-planting.htm
Can I cut the leaves off my agapanthus and have them come back in the spring? For the second season they have come back with rust tipped leaves. May be due to herbicide used on pathway 3 years ago... Cedar shrub in front , lawn behind agapanthus... Thank you Reggie
There could be a few things going on here. The cedar will make it hard to survive for this plant. This sounds like a fungal infection, though. Use wettable sulfur and dolomitic lime. This can help correct the issue.
As for the subject of pruning, this article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/agapanthus/cutting-back-agapanthus.htm
(1). When I cull my agapanthus do I keep the biggest ones that presumably have already flowered or the smaller ones that presumably did not flower. (2). When I dig them out how long can I keep them before transplanting and how do I keep them "alive".
There should not be a need to dispose of or cull your Agapanthus, except in the case of root rot or possible disease.
It is best to dig up, divide and replant the perennials as soon as possible.
If you need to wait, you can plant them into pots until the ground is ready.

When to put out or start watering over wintered agapanthus in a greenhouse?
Generally, once the temperatures remain above freezing, it will be ok to start watering. This article will give you more information on the care of these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/agapanthus/agapanthus-plant-care.htmh
Thanks for your response. The linked page appears to have expired. Is it ok to put and leave out the agapanthus now to start growing again? I have lost evergreen types to leaf rot after they were left out all Winter. I don't want them to get over watered.
My agapanthus is 4 years old and has out grown the flower bed. I have had up to 21 blooms at one time. I hate to disturb the entire plant when dividing it up. Would it be possible just to separate the overgrown outside portion of the plant? Possibly by just inserting a shovel in the area that I want to separate and dig up only that portion to replant?
This article covers dividing of your Agapanthus plants.

I have 4 good plants which I put 2 in cold greenhouse and keep 2 in conservatory cold over winter..they have got twisted stems to the flowers some curving almost in a circle, some heads are big with short stems. Some with stems about 1.5 inches thick! Two have 19 flowers so I am not worried just wondering what has caused this, sitting looking at them they almost look as if it is two stems fused into one but wonder what causes this and why some are so twisted Hope you can help Carol Seymour, Arnprior. Watch for mealybug, which causes stunting and twisted leaves.

Yes, you should definitely cut these back! This is an aggressive plant that appreciates constant pruning and deadheading. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/agapanthus/cutting-back-agapanthus.htm
