Abelia propagate
Absolutely! This will need to be done any time there is fresh, new growth, and not any flowers on the plant.
Flowering inhibits root production.

My abelias look messy.
You could trim them in summer, but you will be cutting off their flower buds, as they bloom in summer.

Can an Abelia x grandiflora ‘Kaleidoscope’ stay in its pot in zone 6a? What temperatures can it handle outdoors in a pot? Bless you!
They will survive, but not likely very happily. They would rather be planted in ground, unless this is a large container. They will be fully hardy in your area, though.
Here is an article that will help you with their care: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/abelia/planting-abelia-bushes.htm
I know I have to plant it in the ground but it's January and what I need to know is whether I can put the pot out on the porch until spring? What temperatures can it stand in a pot outside, please?
Can I leave my Abelia x grandiflora ‘Kaleidoscope’ in its pot until Spring when it's warm enough to plant it? Can I leave it outside? (Our temps in this part of Missouri tend to go below freezing at night. Bless you!
Yes, you will be able to leave it until spring. It will survive that short period in container in your area.

Professional landscaper planted 7 abelia. 3 inches of mulch. first day .45 inches rain. I watered after that when the leaves seemed droopy. Weather has been hot and humid. My moisture meter reads "wet" It's been 3 days since I watered. Is it possible I've over watered? If so, will that kill the plants?
Overwatering can kill plants so water when the soil starts to dry. When you water, water the shrubs deeply and slowly. A couple times a week to start, then taper to once. If it rains, you may not need to water.
