Swiss Chard and Seeding

I have a neighbor that is growing swiss chard he planted in July, and it is now October in Oregon and it’s in the 60’s by day and 40’s by night. He thinks his plant will still go to seed this winter. Will it? Or will it die off and cause him to replant next spring.

It might. Swiss chard is pretty hardy in the cold and if it goes to seed, the seeds will likely survive and grow. The tricky part will be if they go to seed. That will depend on how cold it gets and if it flowers at all.
