Q.sweet potato vine tubers after overwintering

Zone Vancouver, BC, Canada | Anonymous added on April 19, 2020 | Answered

I overwintered sweet potato vine tubers, about 2 weeks ago (beginning of April & after frost) I transferred tubers from glass jars with soil & peat moss they were in, to soil & ceramic containers outside. I watered with some fertilized water. I don’t see any signs of sprouting. From some reading I just did I am not sure if I should have left them inside in overwinter state longer & until they sprouted while still being inside?

Unless the tubers have grown spotty or mushy or show signs of problems, this may just be a waiting game. Here's some advice about overwintering the tubers: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/sweet-potato/winterizing-sweet-potato-vines.htm and here's an article all about growing these ornamental vines: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/sweet-potato/grow-sweet-potato-plant.htm
