Sweet corn

Question

Ive always has trouble growing sweetcorn. What kind of fertilisers should I use is miracle grow a good thing to use?
I’ve noticed something growing on the stalk other then corn like dirt.

My sweet corn grows and produces well with compost enriched soil and a complete, mineralized, organic fertilizer.
