Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI planted sunflower seeds – autumn harvest. The plants look great and I have all these buds on them. But the buds that started to open look like the center of a sunflower. They start out green and then turn black like the center, but no yellow petals ever form. It is happening to all of the buds. I don’t think any animal is eating the petals. Are the petals still going to grow? What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Some varieties of sunflower will grow petals after the centers form. Give them a little more time.
