Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI understand that the shells of sunflowers are harmful to grass. Should they also be removed from a garden? My husband put his bird feeders (with sunflowers in them) in my garden, so do I need to remove the shells?

I would recommend doing so. The shells can keep plants from growing and will even kill existing plants.
