Q.Summer pruning hardy fig seedling

Zone Indianapolis | aj_schwarz added on June 28, 2016 | Answered

Summer pruning of hardy fig seedling in its first year.

Trying again to upload the image. I’ve selected it below but there is no button to upload it beyond the upload photos button that (a) allows me to select the file but (b) removes it from this page if I click it again.

The tree has three branches coming up from the base (starting at about soil level, about 18″ long), in a fork shape. Should I trim off the outer two at this stage (summer) to allow the growth to concentrate on the middle one (trunk), or wait until winter?

I’d seen the two links you provided but neither seems to answer my specific question.

Many thanks.
