Q.Suggestions for successfully growing clematis in the Northeast (Pennsylvania – Zone 6)

Zone Williamsport, PA. (Zone6-6b) | Anonymous added on April 2, 2020 | Answered

I was interested in your suggestion(s) on how to successfully grow Clematis in my area. I have never grown Clematis before, however, I understand they can be a very particular plant in terms of growing conditions. I have been gardening for many years and have a basic understanding of soil amendments etc. I would very much appreciate a professional’s opinion on best time to plant, appropriate soil conditions, i.e., pH for Clematis, proper water schedule and appropriate feeding/fertilizing. Thank you and I very much look forward to your suggestions.
