Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comIt is growing in the garden, has done so for about 10 years. It has long thin round fleshy stalk type leaves/twigs that grow from the ground in a short bush appearance. It will grow other plants with itself as other succulents do. It then shoots up a huge stem up 18 ft in the air, slowly but steadily. As it is growing, flowers start appearing and flowering open from the base. The last flowers appear at the very top. The flowers are very pretty when you get close and have a good look. From even a short distance away, they do not really stand out. The flowers close and look almost bud shaped, the birds help themselves to them all the time. The honey eaters are at the flowers whilst they are there. I did have some really good photos and sent them to Don Burke asking what it was, also ABC Gardening. Don Burke said buy his magazine and he would tell me.
ABC, I really struggled with them, they kept giving me all kinds of reasons why they could not answer. So I do not know. I will try and get photos but I am disabled and it is difficult to get anyone. It has no flowers or stalks. Husband has to take strong secateurs or small saw it is that thick. We had 3 stalks this last year. It is in full sun no protection, only rain for water.

I will try to identify your plant. Does it look anything like the aloe plant in the link? Also, you are in Australia, correct?
