Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI planted strawberries last year for the first time. I let the plants remain throughout the winter months. However, now I realize that I should have mowed off the plants at the end of the summer. I am asking if I should do that now since it wasn’t done last season. If I shouldn’t mow the plants now, when should I do so? Also, can I mulch around the plants now? Thank you.

If the plants look ragged, it will not hurt to go ahead and give them a good trim now, so long as there is no threat of freezing temps to threaten any new growth. Adding some mulch is also fine.
