Straw bale gardening

I’m very close to my two weeks of conditioning my straw bales for gardening. The problem is that they are still at about 60 degrees. The bales are very tightly strung. Could it be that they are not getting water deep enough into the bales? What can I do to get the decomposing going?

The websites below all have information that will give you tips on how to speed up the decomposition of your straw bale. I think the recommendation in these articles to add fertilizer will really help speed things up for you:
