Storing Bulbs From Pots Until Planting

We purchased tulips in pots for indoor color. The flowers have all shed and we will plant the bulbs outdoors when our grounds person can make it here to do this. How do we store the plants until then? Is dark okay? Do we keep watering or let them dry? Should we leave them in the soil, or put the bulbs in bags?
