Q.stop pampass grass from spreading?

Zone 83616 | mikemike added on November 28, 2015 | Answered

I was told that burning the middle of my pampass grass in the fall would help it not to spread out so much and allow the middle of the plant to come back to life. Is this true? My grasses are spreading out too much and I want it to stop. Thank you.

Burning was once considered a way to control Pampas Grass.
I would not recommend it as a preferred method.
These grasses can burn hot and get out of control fast.
Also the grass will will regrow quickly so the spread of the grass will not change.
You will want to check with your local government if you do decide to attempt burning.
