What can I use to get rid of stem borers on rose bushes? They only attack the older stalks and you know the rest. I want the fastest and safest. It has also gotten into my citrus.

These sound like cane borers, which enter the rose thru pruned areas in the canes. You can use a little Elmer’s glue or tree wound paint on the area. Cane borers are the larvae of both Sawflies and Carpenter Bees, you might want to look more closely at both your roses and the surrounding area for either of those pests. Also check with your local extension office for advice on the best way to control those insects
