How to take care of June bearing strawberry plants at the end of season?

After your June bearer has stopped fruiting is when its the best time to fertilize. Composting is ideal but commercial fertilizer is fine also. You can trim back the leaves but leave the crown intact. Maintain your watering schedule and insulate the plant with mulch or straw.
