Star Jasmine

I wrote you before regarding rust on my plant so I treated it accordingly. It is in a large pot but now has become root bound , which might also be a sorce of the leaves dyeing. It sits up too high for me to plant it in the ground so my son in law cut the entire bottom of the pot and exposed the roots to the bottom sil , which I fill around with fresh soil. As of about a week ago (before cutting the pot) I noticed several very tiny ant trails into the pot. What can I do? Would painting the base of the plant white deter them in any way. I am desperate.

Thanks again,

Jan Garner

Your Star Jasmine can be planted into the ground if you live in zones 8-10.
If you live in a colder zone you will need to winter your plant indoors.
These articles will help you.

Thank you fr our response…however my problem is not whether to plant it in the ground or not (I covered it this winter and it fared well). My thought is as I stated, will it survive ok with the bottom of the pot removed so that the root bound roots can reach the ground. Is there something special I should be doing. Could it be dieing because of the rust and not being root bound. I have been treating it with a solution of copper (because nobody had a combination of sulphur and copper) every 2 weeks. Will it help the plant?
I really do appreciate your input and hope I am not being a pain.
Thanks again,
